Converting Visitors To Buyers
You have found a niche, and put up a campaign. Now how do you convert that traffic to buyers?
If you have read anything from me in the past you know I am big on fundamentals. Not tricks, not secret tactics. The basics. The stuff that works.
Converting visitors is no different. And you'd be surprised at how little you have to do to get them to convert. In fact the trick is to not convert them at all.
Here is the simple explanation. Get this and you get it. You job as an affiliate is to make the visitor want to visit the merchant page. You don't need to sale them and you don't need to force them. You need to do one thing. Provide enough info to pique their interest and get them to click through. Its about curiosity.
The sales page of the vendor does the selling. Not you. You need to think of yourself as a friend recommening another friend to check something out. You saw a movie that you really like and you know that your friend would like it too. So you say "Hey so should go check out this movie. I loved it and i know you will too"
Now that's not the exact thing you say on your webpage, but its the same idea. First, you have to know what interests your visitors and what their hot buttons are. You find this out in your market research. What are their problems? Why do they buy?
Then you weave a story that explains how you went through the same things. I was x pounds overweight, tired all the time, and I really couldn't stand to look at myself in the mirror. etc etc. Then direct them to the solution.
Here is the simple outline.
1. Headline to grab attention.
2. A story that lets them know you have had the same experiences, know how they feel, etc
3. Gentle recommendations for what they can do.
It is very straight forward. You need to track how many clicks are leaving your landing page to the merchant to see what the conversion ratio is. Everything depens on the market and you will need to test different merchants to see what kind of conversion they generate. And which ever merchant makes you the most money is the one you promote.
Now at this point I used to say "but, what about this, what about that, what about …" If that is what you are saying, forget about it. Get a landing page up. Get something out there and start working on it. The more you do the more you learn and it WILL start to make more sense.
But only if you take action and do something.
To your success,
Steve
