The Nasty Email

The Email:

Steve,

Unfortunately, wealthy affiliate has been a huge dissapointment. Maybe you can provide some encouragement. I find that many of the so called lessons are very 'once over lightly' and do not provide any type of substance on a step by step approach. How exactly does one promote affilate products with the thousands of others on the internet. How do you do it if you don't have a marketing background and must devote most of your time to a real job that is between 40-60 hours a week??

Next, it is very dangerous for people to assume that signing up for this wealthy affiliate course and assume that there problems will be solved if they devote all of their time to it and believe that a traditional job is somehow evil. I guess in your world the 3.6 million Americans receiving unemployment, and the close to 9 million people (I am not one of them and somehow manage on only $90,000 a year ) who are unemployed are considered losers & not 'positive enough'. As a Native NY'er I (and everyone else from here) tells it the way it is.

$39.99 a month isn't alot of money for me so I can give the benefit of the doubt and keep going, but I am sure that the owners 'kyle & carson' are gushing in profits because most of America is gulliable as proven by the last election. Much of their content looks taken from other sites anyway very unoriginal.

Again, prove me wrong by providing specific examples. I am willing to pay for it as I wrote in your survey but I can smell BS a mile away

Thank You,

Nick

My Answer:

Nick,

Based on the tone in your email, I’m not sure whether I should respond in an equally antagonistic manner, or show a little compassion because I’ve been where you are at. I have to say my gut reaction is to respond equally, but my more reasoned self says to hear you out and provide some ideas for your consideration.

I’m really sorry that you have found WA to be a disappointment. It is a big place there is a lot of information to digest. No forum, guide, ebook, training, etc can spell out exactly what you have to do. The world of marketing is so varied and diverse that there is not one “way to do it”. WA is designed to give you the groundwork you need to build on and to give you the boost to help you move forward.

If you have questions, how many of those have you posted in the forum? Have you attempted to get answers, or have you simply pointed fingers? Promoting products online, takes time to learn. It doesn’t happen overnight. In everything that I have published, I’m very clear in saying that it is a process and that it takes time to learn. But you CAN learn it. If you stay with it.

As far as how to promote products with 1000s of others online, you have to realize that there are 100,000s of products and services available to promote. Your viewpoint and mindset regarding the possibility is very limiting. Let me ask a simple question. I can go to the General success section of WA and find a ton of posts from people saying they just got started and are making money. If they can do it, you can to, so why not you?

Regarding your job and affiliate marketing. I will say it is not easy, because it is not. I am not one in this area to accept many “excuses”. I made a lot of money in my early 20s, lost it ALL and had to go back to work. I worked 50+ hours a week, had two kids, a wife, 40K+ in CC debt etc. I had all the “problems” and I did it. It wasn’t easy. The key is I didn’t quit. I didn’t say “Oh My life is tough” I can respect your position, but I can also say it comes down to how much you really want to change your situation.

Again, I don’t perceive WA as saying they are the magic pill. In fact, far from it. I’ve read a lot of sales letters online and the WA letter is one of the least hyped and pushy of them all. Furthermore, what each person assumes is up to them. If someone views it as a magic pill, then that is their issue.

I don’t believe traditional jobs are evil. They are a necessity, especially if you want to pay the bills in today’s world. I DO believe that if you ever want to get wealthy or have control over your destiny then working a job is not the way to go. When someone else is constantly telling you what to do, when to do it, and how to do it, it severely limits your freedom. And I think that is what you are getting. There are a lot of people in WA who value freedom more than security ,and that is why they don’t like JOBs.

Regarding the people on unemployment and unemployed. Its’ not a nice place to be I agree. I also don’t have much patience for “victims” The people who say its’ always someone else’s fault. The government, their boss, their spouse, etc, etc. Until someone assumes complete responsibility for their life their situation won’t change. They are not losers for being unemployed. Whether they do anything about it is the key.

It seems that you are reading the views of a few people and applying it to all of WA. That isn’t right. If you have an issues with one person’s views deal with that, but don’t slam WA.

$39.99 isn’t a lot if you put it to use. If you don’t, you are better spending that money on something else. It is an educational expense. Compare it to college or any other place you have to pay to learn. The return on your investment is unparalleled. Again, if you use it.

Kyle and Carson have provided a wonderful resource for people and they deserve the profits. It sounds like you have an issue with people who make a lot of money. I don’t see any gullibility anywhere. Anyone can cancel at anytime. No penalties, no charges. If they stay they do so by choice. Again it is a matter of what they expect WA to offer.

If you expect every piece of content to be original, then you will be greatly disappointed. There is so much information available in the world that very little of what you or I can say or do is original. Someone else has said or done it before. And how exactly can you say they took it from other sites? Maybe other sites took it from them. My 3 hours of audio and transcript aren’t original. I created them, but the content is available already online, if you know where to find it.

Prove you wrong? I have nothing to prove. I live the internet lifestyle. I built it over time. I made it work. I don’t have to prove anything to you. I know it works, because I live it.

You don’t really seem to want to see it a different way. Your tone sounds like you have already made up your mind.

I truly wish for you the wonderful things that this business can provide for you. Only you will decide if you will get them.

All the best,

Steve
