Why you don't have to be an authority to make money.
If you really want to succeed, you have to be an authority on your subject right?
WRONG. And let me tell you why.
There are certain situations where it helps if you are an authority, and I'll tell you about those. But marketing is about traffic and conversion. You have to deliver good products and services to your customers, but YOU don't have to create it. You just have to market it.
You can get good at just those two things and never be an authority. In fact let me give you several examples. The first is myself. As you probably know my partner and I have several sites in the World of Warcraft Niche. But neither of us are experts, in fact far from it. And I definitely wouldn't even say we are close to being authorities.
We did, however, find someone who is good and knowledgeable, paid them to write the guide, and we just sell it.
Another example.
Nitro Marketing. Maybe you have heard of them. Kevin Wilke and his partners. They do the same thing. In fact they built their business by helping other people market their products. And they split the profits.
So what I'm trying to get you to see is that the magic is in the marketing. Not being the expert. Think about it. If you are an expert on relationshiphs and know one knows about your information, because your marketing stinks, then how are you going to sell your products? You won't.
You need to focus on being a great marketer. Driving traffic to converting offers. That's it really. Get good at traffic then you can work on making your own offers. Its a process like I constantly say.
Now I told you that there are times where you do need to be an expert. Here is one I can think of.
Marketing to the marketing niche. Then you need to be an authority and know what you are talking about, otherwise people will see right through it.
And let me leave with with one last thought. Being an authority means nothing more than people perceive you as a knowledgeable expert. Whether you are or not.
